The wall flowers were inspired by Gabriel’s lily in annunciation paintings throughout history. The angel’s outstretched hand, trembling petals as a portal from one reality to another. The flowers are also reminiscent of medieval sconces where a hand grasping a torch is mounted on stone walls, often surrounded by elaborate floral tapestries. I am imagining an animated tapestry, where the flowers leave the weave and find form and function as sculptural paintings and as lights.
